Basic Guide Format
« on: December 11, 2011, 09:30:55 pm »
Information
Right after flicking threw some of the guides players have made, I've noticed none of them seem to be eye catching. For those of you who haven't got a clue what I'm talking about, basically.. They are dull. I'm sure most of you, if not all of you agree with me on this - no one wants to read a guide without any color, format, layout, few screenshots, etc. I'm writing this Format to hopefully stop with these horrible looking guides and move onto better ones.

Guides
To me and if not to the rest of the community, a plane boring guide will get little views and you'll probably receive little satisfaction on how much work you've put in on writing it out. I will write a few format/layouts on what I suggest you do next time you decide to write a guide.

Information
Writing some information about what guide you are making, why you are making it and whether you think its worth doing. This will keep the viewers and readers onto your topic before you include any other eye catching info.

Organization
No one likes to see a massive paragraph of the whole guide, take your time to format it, use the 'left', 'center', 'right' and 'preformatted tool' to make your guide less cluttered. Also take not on the 'bold', 'italicized', 'underlined' and 'strike through' buttons next to them. Using this can also help players understand certain parts of your guide.

Color & Fonts
Mix your topic up a bit, don't keep it the same default font and color, using different colors and fonts will keep your thread looking interesting and it will bring it up to a whole new level of awesomeness ;).

Screenshots
Taking screenshots, uploading them to either tinypic or photobucket, then just pasting the image code [img] will also keeps your thread looking sweet! Not every player like to read hench messages about a guide, they like to see images too. :)

The End
Hopefully, either proof reading this thread or reading it completely, will now allow you to understand how to create a lovely looking tutorial on which you choose to create. Remember to not over do it, take your time and make sure your happy with what you've done. A rushed guide, is a horrible guide!

Note: If you suggest anything else, feel free to post them and I'll take a look into it. Also, this wasn't copy and pasted before I hear rants and raves.

Difference being, mines a format. Doesn't need to apply the same rules at what your crappy guides should. Why the double post? Just edit it and move on. Nugget.
